While driving Windstar 2001 speed slowed suddenly. Checked cruise control setting which did not respond. Accelerator cables hanging loose from bracket. Snapped cables back into bracket and Cruise control worked OK for about 2 weeks. Next time the Cruise control stopped but didn't find the loose cables. Unsnapped and reset worked again but Cruise control failed again??
Suggestion to repair?

I have also heard of a brake pressure sensor that is located on the bottom of your master cylinder, has a wire harness attached to the bottom side of it. Have someone pump the brakes while you look to see if there is brake fluid leaking. Its a very common problem on our vans. And its fairly cheap to replace. I guess the wire harness gets the brake fluid on it and messes with the cruise and sometimes other things too.

tnx djrolen: It was the switch malfunctioning. Easy to replace located right where you described to be. Had more problems geting the air filter out of the way that replacing the switch. A check of Ford Windstar 2001 recalls and it did list the switch as on recall. The switch had been noted to start a fire even after the switch was turned off. Never got a notice about the recall. Now to talk with a human being about a refund will be more of a problem than replacing the switch....
