Hi guys.

I have Ford Freestar 2006 (automatic), car randomly and silently shuts off while running , it locks my steering , breaks etc, very dangerous,

it shuts off very silently I hv to see dashboard to see lights are on. I quickly put the car on neutral gear to start it again and it starts very quickly....and then car keep running for one or two weeks very nicely and suddenly such thing happens again.....after few days, once in a week.

I have changed Coil, changed electric plugs, and fuel sender checked, and upgrade the software,BUTTT...CAR IS STILL SHUTTING OFF WHILE RUNNING.

Please advise what to do?

Is there any body else have same problem with Freestar 2006?

First, check to see if any codes are in it's history or active and not showing. I'm assuming you don't have an active check engine light. Since the steering shouldn't lock unless you're in park, I'd suspect the DTR (digital transmission range) Sensor.

Check for codes. Many parts stores will for free. When you say the steering locks, you mean just hard to turn and not locking like in park?

You say it locks your steering and brakes . Do you just mean you lose the power assistance because the engine has stalled ?

when car shuts off while running, its behavior is same like you have park the car, it means I lose the power assistance because the engine has stalled (car still running on road), very very dangerous.

I have checked error codes many time by computer...nothing is coming there...computer shows every thing is fine.

very surprise a vehicle from Ford can have such dangerous fault which can't be resolved easily.

what parts should I change more, what to do?, please advise

How are you checking for codes? All vehicles can have a stalling issue and they'd all do the same thing.

local mechanic has a computer device to check the codes, its says, all fine, no error, but car still behaving the same...don't know what to change or repair.... any advise?

Clean or replace IACV (idle air control valve ) .

This hapend also to my freestar for 4 month and finaly i was told it is the fuel sinsor , I at the begining hazetated bcs it coast about 150 USD but finaly i went for it and what you know it fixed my problem now i tell you where to find this sinsor , OPEN THE HOOD AND FACE THE ENGINE YOU WILL FIND IT ON YOUR LEFT HAND SIDE UNDER THE WIPER VERY SMALL ABOUT 1.5 INCH i hope this will help
