gas gauge question

just bought a 1990 camper van, 5.0 L guess it is a econoline, have all service records,

anyhow, leaving for a trip to Mexico next week so been driving it to make sure it will make it there and back and one tank still showing full, the rear shows less than a quarter tank, Was wondering if the fuel return is like my jaguar, capable of pumping out one tank into the other and causing a mess,

and what to check, I imagine the switch is double pole double throw, switching line and ground between the tank senders,

any info will be greatly apprecaited

Re: gas gauge question

update, it appears the rear gauge works so I guess I will pull the switch and see what kind it is, and if there is a broken wire,
