Just purchased a 1999 Windstar and having some problems - Ford Forums

We just purchased a 1999 Windstar. It apparently wasn't driven alot because it was owned by an older couple who no longer drive.

Anyway, after driving off the lot, the ABS light came on. Now, after driving it out of town for a distance, the speedometer jumps and the overdrive off light keeps coming on.

Any ideas - we've only had it for 2 days and don't want to put a bunch of money fixing it!

Well, i will try to answer the OD light coming on. Is the OD light flashing or blinking on and off? If it is it means there is something wrong with your transmission. You will need to get the codes read at a ford dealer or soemwhere else. Most of the time when I see the OD light flashing it is the tranmission range sensor or aka neutral safety swtich about a $30 to $40 part if you install it yourself. The first thing I would do is get the codes read for your transmission, and ABS.
