Keyless Entry Stopped Working? 2001 Windstar SEL

The car has various problems related to the locks, i am not sure if they are all in connection with eachother. Anyways when the keyless entry did work, when you locked the car (with the key FOB) sometimes the driver and passenger door would not lock but the other locks would. And the Info on the Dashboard would say passenger door ajar. Now the keyless entry remote does not work, and when i tried to reprogram the key Fob, the car would not even engage into the Programming Mode. I have changed the batteries. Any advice, or help?

I want to bring up the issue with the passenger door ajar. We replaced the ajar switch, but with no results, and it still continues now, without the remote working.

Hello and good day to you:

Do you have a Owners Manual for your Windstar? If not please check this link: https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenan...ls/default.asp

And this Link Car Door Lock Questions and Answers

Enter your Year, Make, Model....you then will get a PDF file...go to page 109, and Check the Reprogramming of the Key Fob. And Page 110.

I have the same Problem on my 1999 Escort SE...with the one back door. In the door there is a Small Servo that engages the lever to go up and down...some times these go bad....especially in the Colder Areas of the Country....It happens when the doors are very cold, and you try to open it. They then just stress, and give out. you have a shorted door lock actuator, simply replace the lock that is not working with a new unit.

So if the Reprogramming does not do the trick,,,then you will need to replace those Servos.

Good luck and Good Repairing.
