left front window

hello all,
I have a 2000 ford windstar se, the left front window stopped working the other day, I checked the door switch, put in a new one, still didn't fix it, checked under the dash, everytime I pushed the window button, I heard a clicking under the dash, the clicking is coming from the front electronic module, nest to the steering colmumn, mounted on the passenger side of the firewall, anybody have any ideas? if it is the control module, can I change it myself? do I have to take it to the dealer to be calibrated? I sure hope not, any help would be appreciated, thanks

Re: left front window

Do the dome lights dim a little when you press the switch?

I will check, we changed the rear lift gate with a liftgate from a 2000 windstar lx, since then, the dome lights don't come on unless you turn them on, if they do dim, what does it mean? thanks

Re: left front window

I would remove the door panel and check for power and ground to the motor. The clicking is normal. It's the one touch down relay activating.

Re: left front window

If they dim, that means power is going to the motor and it's hanging and needs to be replaced.

I checked the dome light, it does dim a little bit when you push the button, I will pull the door panel tomorrow, thanks

i pulled the door panel, checked power to the motor, everything is good that way, motor clicks when you push the button, just not activating, I think it's probably the motor, thanks, for the effort

Re: left front window

Thanks for the update. You can tap the motor and it may work for awhile but the motor should be replaced.
