Need Urgent Help (99 Windstar)
So my family has a 1999 Ford Windstar which we bought new from the dealer that year. Since then we have put MUCH more into the van than it is worth. Now that the kids are for the most part grown up, we can't use "practicality" as an excuse to keep it and it's finally on its way out. The issue is to sell it, we would need to turn off the engine light. A task ~$9000 worth of repairs and labor (by both dealer and independent mechanics) in the past two years couldn't do. So I'm here to ask, does anyone have some suggestions to turning it off? The Ford manual doesn't specify on how to reset the ECU, so over the weekend I'm going to cut power from the battery for a few hours to see if it gets us anywhere.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!
Unfortunately, until a drastic change occurs, this will be the last time our family purchases a new Ford. It (as well as the other Windstar preceding it) have tarnished the company's great name for us.
