Starting &/or charging problem
Gabby is a 96 E 150 Econoline. I think her starter is beginning to fail - have had to hit it with a chevy wrench (hammer) to get it started twice this weekend...replaced the solenoid (not the problem) and then drove for a couple of hours before all charging stopped, lost the spedometer and charging meter on the dash and then ran another 6 miles till the battery ran out of juice.
Then.....while taking the battery out, found a green wire that we'd missed on the solenoid - re-attached it, charged the battery and drove her to a friends place. Left my wiring diagrams and multi-meter at home so I can't tell you if it's charging fully or not but this morning on the fully charged battery it ran 15miles with all guages working - indicating that the charging system is doing something.
Before I dig into the charging system can someone tell me if these two things are related? The wire off the solenoid and dishcharging the battery???
