confused Stut Compressor Tool 1999 Windstar

I replaced the driver's side strut using a spring compressor I rented from the local auto supply store. The trouble I had was putting the new strut back in because the screw for the compressor was too long and hit the strut housing - making it difficult to get the strut in the knuckle - DOES ANYONE KNOW IF THERE IS A SPECIAL KIND OF COIL SPRING COMPRESSOR TOOL NEEDED FOR THE 1999 WINDSTAR?? LET ME KNOW PLEASE

You may need to readjust your strut tool on the spring or get another tool. I bought a spring compressor for like 15 bucks and it went real smooth.
