hello all, happy new year to everyone, hope all is well, can you put tires chains on a 2000 ford windstar? so many front wheel drives say you can't want to go to the snow, don't get much in southern california, anyway, any help would be appreciated, thanks

I loved chains when I was up in Northern Ontario. Southern ON doesn't allow the use of tire chains on public roads, under any conditions. If you get some deep grooved winter tires, or as CatSkinner mentioned, studded tires are better suited over chains in most cases.

I ran chains on my Taurus but it was cumbersome to take them on & off depending on road conditions. There had to be a minimum 3" of snow on the roads, or heavy ice to wear chains on public roads. Back dirt roads were relatively unrestricted within limits.

To help my drives up north when I still owned my C1500 (rear wheel drive) I implemented a system like this using compressed air: Onspot of North America You can lower the chains to aid in traction only when needed.
