Turbocharged 4.0 aerostar project
Well folks, I have started my project. I bought a turbo off of ebay for hella cheap and I'm installing it on my aerostar. I am locating the turbo on the right side of the trans under the passenger side. Tapped a hole in the oil pan for the return line, tapped into the oil pressure sending unit for the feed, and made the exhaust pieces. Im making it so i can bolt up the turbo, a straight pipe, or the stock cats when smog time comes around in good old CA. I'm planning on running 6 lbs. of boost without an intercooler on the stock fuel system for the time being. I dont think this will work very well due to running lean. I have just about everything i need to finish the job. Without the turbo, im estimating cost to be around $200! Not bad for a turbo system.
The only major concern i have right at the moment is the oil return line. Im hoping that I wont burn out the bearing due to the fact that the oil pressure is going to have to push the return line slightly up. We'll see.
What i need though is some info on fuel upgrades. I need to know what the guys in the rangers are runing fuel wise so i can add more fuel to my system. I will search the forum later.
If any of you guys are interested on a full write up, post here and i will take some pix and do a full write up once i have tested everything out. Im thinking this is going to work well though, especially if i can get the proper fuel.
Wish me luck!
Brett
