How Do I Tell If This Van Is Front,rear,all Or 4 Wheel Drive? 1992 Areostar Xl Van

look under your vehicle and see whether it has a driveshaft running to the rear axle if it does then you know it has a rear drive if not it is only front wheel drive.
if it does then look to see if there is also a short shaft going to the front axle.
if there are 2 driveshafts total you know it has 4x4 capability.

not necessarily 89,
if it is AWD or full time 4WD then there is no lever to go from 2wd to 4x4.

Jeeez you guys have no sense of adventure....take it out on the road get in to some loose gravel/dirt and punish the hamsters....see where the aggregate flies from

the easiest way to tell look under the drivers seat for a little computer hoked to a wire harnes if you have one then is automatic 4 wheel drive. they never made a manual 4 wheel drive aerostar. i am currently the proud owner of a 94xl and a 95 xlt and am looking for a conversion kit to make it manual push button 4x4
