need to know what year transmissions will interchange with a 98 windstar van. it is a 3.8l . we founda 200 windstar we can buy for parts but need to find out if they will interchange. dads van has a popping sound when you hold you foot on the brake and rev it up in gear. thought the splines were bad on the axle but they look good. any ideas? thanks brian

It will depend what Engine type you have...I would believe that the 2000 will not interchange with the 98.

the van still drives and runs and everything, but when it is in gear with the brake pushed and you give it gas it makes a popping sound, we thought maybe cv joint or axle bearing but all those looked god when we took the axles out to check. any ideas at all?

Maybe a motor or subframe mount.
