I have a 2004 Freestar with 105,000 miles and it won't start. This morning I started it, turned on the air, ran back inside to grab some more stuff (was inside for a few minutes) and when I went back out it wasn't running anymore. Then, when I tried to start it again, it made a bad sort of grinding noise and wouldn't start at all. Sorry, I don't know how to explain it any better than that! I know it is getting up there in miles, but we need it to last another couple of years until it is paid off. I'm hoping it will be an easy and cheap fix! Any ideas?

Hello and good day:

I would tend to lean to the Starter, and the Start Solenoid.

The Grinding sound you may here is the Solenoid not engaging.

Replacing the Starter and Solenoid could run you between $200.00 to $300.00 at a dealership.
I would recommend that you take it to a trusted Mechanic.
