Will this van run on veggie oil

Hi

I have the chance to buy a 1994 1.8L Diesel Ford Escort Van.

Does anyone know if I can run this van on 100% veggie oil ( not bio diesel ) without the need to do any modifications to the engine ?

I've done some research and apart from establishing it has the correct make of fuel pump fitted and has regular fuel filter changes it should run on veggie oil ok.

Is this true ? Anyone out there running a similar type of vehicle on veggie oil ?

Thanks

You can run it but I wouldn't recommend it without at least 20% petroleum diesel mixed in with it. I've ran bio diesel in various engines 100% but have to run petroleum when I shut it down and start it up so the lines don't clog. The cooler climate here doesn't help much anyway.

Amsoil in all vehicles!

Hi 360ci

Thanks for the reply.

I was thinking of maybe just running on veggie oil during the summer months however I priced up veggie oil not long after I posted my question and discovered it's almost the same price as diesel now.

So there's not much point in running on veggie oil. Still might get this vehicle though as I need a van at the moment and won't be doing a lot of miles in it.

Cheers
