Windstar Cruies Control

Does anyone know if the 2002 Windstar LX 3.8L cruise control system is compatible with other model years 99, 00, 01 ? My 02 unit is bad. Several used ones are available, but not from 02 models that I can find so far.

Are you sure it's bad? Those don't fail very often. I would look a the rest of the system first. Especially the deactivation switch on the bottom of the brake master cylinder

Positive it is bad. Traces on the circuit board appear to have corroded, there is loss of continuity between the card and the connector pins. It failed several years ago, and I do not actually recall how a came to the conclusion, but I was able to verify a bad module (servo). Also, my actuator cable needs replaced.

Re: Windstar Cruies Control

As it turns out, the model 2000 cruise control is the same as the 2002. I was able to confirm this from the dealer. So, I purchased a used cruise module and actuator assembly from a 2000 model and installed it. Fit was perfect and it works great.
