Windstar Seat Reconfiguration
I have a 2002 Windstar SEL. I really wanted to buy a Dodge with "swivel and go" seating but didn't want to spend so much. I took my 2nd row seats out, and re-installed them backwards...and they DO LINE UP and would lock in place, BUT, there is a piece of the metal bottom of the cup part for the in floor bracket that is a little too bulged...I figured I could take it to a welding shop and have them cut that out and re-install a larger cupped piece, which would then allow me to lock in place my 2nd row in the back facing position.
I am not too concerned with the factory belts, as I can always install belts on the seat themselves.
Does anyone know if there are custom swivel seats designed for the Windstar floor brackets? Or maybe an adapter that snaps into the floor and then would allow me to bolt on a custom type swivel seat base?
Anyone ever complete this type of modification in the seats. I know a shop can cut out the cup and thus allow the locking latch to completely grab the pins...If you look at your floor cups for the latches, (you know that spot that gathers old french fries, and coins etc) the rear ones for each seat are different shaped than the front ones. The rear ones are a straight diaginol, where the front ones have a 45 degree angle on them (towards the front). If a shop cut out those 45 degree angles, and made them straight and square like the rears, the seats would lock in place facing rear. Then I could install a custom made table so make my Wind just like a newer Caravan with Swivel and Go.
Any ideas?
