07 Fuel Gauge Problem

Hi all,
I have a 2007 F150 that has developed a problem with the fuel guage. When you turn the key on the guage pins itself to far empty, when key off the needle moves to the E. I replaced the pump/sending unit and still the same. Any ideas or has anyone seen this before?

If you disconnect the plug at the sending unit, the gauge should go to full. If it doesn't then the problem could be the yellow/white wire grounded somewhere. I don't know if they have an anti-slosh module, but if thwey do, that could be where the problem lies. You could take it to AutoZone and see if they can get a code for it they're in the P046x group.

Not tripping any codes, hate to have ta drop the tank again to disconnect the plug but may just have ta do that, Also noted that there are a couple Ford TSB's on fuel gauge problem TSB 19785 and 08-2-9 but I can't find what they are, any ideas. I traced all the wires when I had tank out and couldn't find any breaks in bundle or wear marks so doubt a wire broke inside without showing on outside.

ISSUE:
Some 2004-2008 F-150 and 2006-2008 Mark LT vehicles, built before 12/3/2007, may exhibit erratic fuel gauge operation or illuminated malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) with diagnostic trouble codes (DTCs) P0460 or P0463, and/or Instrument Cluster Module DTC B1201. This may be caused by sulphur contamination in the fuel causing an open or high resistance in the fuel level sender.

ACTION:
Follow the Service Procedure steps to correct the condition.

Install a new fuel level sender following the service procedure instruction sheet provided in the fuel sender kit.

Thanks for the update, well since I replaced the pump/sender unit I guess I have done the TSB. I dropped the tank again and disconnected the cannon plug from the pump and it made no difference. Did manage to get some trouble codes,which I cleared. Metered the wires and all seem good. Another person on another forum said he had this problem and they had to re-flash the computer, so since thats beyond the tools I want to buy to do friends truck I guess it will have to go to dealer for computer read.
