09 F150 wiring question.
I have an 09 F150 Supercrew. I had a topper installed that has an interior light that they just hooked to the tail lights so when the lights are on you can use the switch located on the topper's interior light to turn it on. I want to wire the interior light in the topper so that when the trucks cab interior lights come on (when you hit the key fob or open a door) the topper interior light comes on.
I have taken down both interior lights inside the cab and found 3 wires, a negative, a constant positive used for switching the cab lights on or off at the light, and another non constant positive that only comes on when you hit the key fob or open a door. The non-constant positive is a gray wire with 2 purple stripes. This wire is the same on both the front and rear interior lights. I also found a gray wire with 2 purple stripes located under the driver side floor molding.
My question is is it safe to assume that the wire located under the driver side floor molding is the same as the wire in the interior lights. They are both the same color so I assume they would be. If its the same my plan is to run a wire from the rear where the topper is to the wire located under the floor molding as there is easy access from the underneath the truck. Any help would be appreciated.
