1962 F-100 ignition switch

How can I get the ignition switch out without a key? I have a new lock and key. Truck was dads and has sit at his house for 16 years and Mom has no idea where the key is. I hot wired it to get it here but would rather not have to do that from now on.

Re: 1962 F-100 ignition switch

ford had a very limited number of cuts for there keys either eight or sixteen so if ya have any other ford keys laying around its worth trying. my keys from a 71 ford truck actually started a friends 2002 focus.

Re: 1962 F-100 ignition switch

This is a single cut key, not cut on both sides so I doubt anything made in the last 30 years is going to work.

Can I drill the lock cylinder out and still be able to get the switch out without destroying it?

If you take the ignition switch out and take it to a lock smith they can make you one.
