The only reason they could be called rare is because they never built that many. 1 -
because nobody wanted them 2 - They couldn't sell them 3 - they were not that good.
Prime exp. the ford thunderbird super coupe. They are rare because they are under powered, too heavy for the 3.8. . nobody wanted them and they are no longer made.
Might be something there. Depends on what you call rare. If nobody wants that vehicle
it's rare and worth nothing, well, not nothing, but you know what i mean. If everyone wants it you have a RARE vehicle worth money. It's only worth big bucks if you can find
someone that will pay big bucks. I don't think this is what you want to hear but it's a
start. No offense. The 55 - 56 - 57 - Chevs are rare. They made hundreds of thousands.
they are rare. Go figure.
Hey Chipset:
You seem to have "rare" and "collectible" confused. For instance, "Shoebox" Chevys are not rare, at least not in SoCal, but they are absolutely collectible and worth big bucks.
There only 3034 1973 f-100 step-side beds. I have a 1973 f100 with a " special factory ordered long step-side" I was told that airports and fire departments used the long beds mostly ,it also as a 302 and is auto. I'd say its VERY VERY rare. Glad to have such a truck.
Ive seen a hand full of short step-sides never a long step-sides. You could go to a car lot and get a short step-side, not with a long step-side it's a "special" factory order.
I like old trucks. The rarer the better, so hang onto it, take care of it and enjoy. Nobody will mistake it for the look alike cars on the road today. Just remember to check the grill for Prius'. My F-350 was overheating, it took me a month to find the Prius stuck in the grill!

Wait'll you get a Smart car stuck in there, they get deep in the fins!
