This is my first post. I have the opportunity to pick up a '78 F150 Ranger, 400, Auto, 4X4 as well as some axles from under an older F250 that includes an 8Lug D44 leaf sprung front axle. Has anyone converted there radius arm front end to leaf spring? How much work is involved?

Also, is it easy enough to swap the D44 5 lug and 8 lug setups? Is it just a matter of pulling out the shafts on both axles/brakes and swapping them?

dont change to leaf springs its such a worse ride. coil is the way to go.

Ihave done this with mine, except I used Chevy K20 Knuckles. the D44 out of the F250 is low pinion, so is undesirable. Use everything from the knuckles out to swap over, except the axles, which are the same.

that will give you 8 lug wheel pattern, and bigger brakes.

the knuckles are a direct swap. may be a good time to put new balljoints in, or at least new boots. the rest should be ok.
