1983 F150 question

I'm thinking about buying an '83 F150, 302, AOD, 8.8, etc. It has around 56k original miles and is in decent condition (has been sitting for a while and the paint is flaking off, but looks decent).

My big question is this: When did they start putting the EEC computers on these things? From what I saw in the little time I had to look, it doesn't appear to have a computer, but how can I check for sure. I had a ton of problems with my '84 Bronco and vowed to never buy another Ford with the EEC and a carburator.

You should be OK with the 83. The F150 didn't have EEC then.

I agree on you swearing off a carb and computer. They just don't mix. Carb. is way too crude for the computer to be able to control. We pulled our hair out on them, at the dealership, even when they were new.

Just had in my shop a 81 Corvette. It has a 350 with a computer and a quadrajet. Another nightmare.
