1987 F250 Egine Help

My cousin has a 1989 f250 and it back fies during acceleration with a load on it and doesnt in neutral. Theres a little cylinder that mounts off the coil assembly with a wire going into the top that fell out maybe a condenser or a relay that im going to replace. I looked for arcing between wires to the cylinders and on the distributor at night but saw nothing. He just had a recent tune up about a month ago and the problem didn't start till two weeks after. If this doesn't fix my problem can anybody tell me any other possibilities who have had a similar experience with this year vehicle?

Re: 1987 F250 Egine Help

I had a similar problem and it was a plugged fuel filter. I also had a loose coil wire that would cause it to miss under load. The little clamps were broken off the coil wire that snap it to the coil. I thought the electrical connector would hold it good enough and I was wrong. I used 2 tie wraps to connect it to the coil and what a difference. No more lugging or missing
