1990 F150 front fuel pump and gas gauge not working

I have a 90 F150 with a 5.0 engine. When gas got up real high I only drove truck once a week so I quit filling up the front tank. Gas went down and driving truck more and got gas at good price and filled up back tank and front tank. After filling up both tanks I switch to front tank (worked fine before) which I had not used in about a year and the gas gauge did not move and the truck would not start.

I switched to the back tank and it worked fine like it always has. I would like to know what this could be, you would think if fuel pump is bad the fuel gauge would still work.

Also does this truck have 1 or 2 interia switches and fuses for the pumps? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Also about 12 gallons of gas in the truck and tried to siphon but the hose goes down about 4 feet and will not get in gas to sipon. Is there a trick to this. Because if it is the fuel pump in tank I will not fix just continue to use back tank and would like to get fuel out.

The pump is totally independent of the level sender. Click my black Bronco in my signature & read the captions in the '90-96 Fuel System album.

The trick is to use a smaller, more-flexible siphon hose.
