1993 Super Duty Transmission problem

Hi! My Hubby recently purchased a 1993 Ford Super Duty with a 7.3 engine. the engine was just replaced with a remanufactured one, when pulling out the trans jerks, than when it gets to about 50 mph, it downshifts by itself, the rpm's really go up can really feel this happening.

Can anyone please tell me what could be happening!

Thanks so very much!

Re: 1993 Super Duty Transmission problem

When dealing with an automatic transmission issue, I always recommend changing the fluid and filter first. Particularly if it hasn't been done in a while. Typically, a transmission doesn't have any gauges, you only have it's output to judge with and the condition of the fluid and filter. Even if the oil looks good, a sudden failure of an internal component will plug the filter and reduce the hydraulic pressure produced by the torque converter.
