Hello all.
I have a 1997 F150 with the 4.2L. I bought it from my company (an engineering firm) for 200.00 bucks. It does not run. Nobody really knows why. The only clue is that the guy driving it said that it sounded like the truck was "making new parts" before it died. The opinion is the oil pump went out. I have found out that the 4.2L is a little pricey to rebuild. What I am looking for is suggestions. I would like to use this truck for work + towing a motorcycle trailer. Should I try to find a donor truck? Rebuild the current engine or swap out to a v-8? I know that you are only going to be able to give me ballpark answers, but this is the first place I thought about when this question arose.
