I recently aquired a 97 F250 that is the old model like the 96, 5.8L Windsor, while inspecting the engine compartment I noticed that a tube comes from the exhuast manifold up to the EGR unit near the fuel injection rail just right if the intake plennum, off of this EGR unit there is a metal cylendar that has an open tube blowing out air while the engine is running. It looks as if another vacuum hose should be attached here where this air blows out. Upon furthur inspection I could not find any hose that may have come off of here. I also could not fine anywhere that a hose from here would return this air to the system. Does anybody know if this EGR tube is suppose to be open like this w no tube attached? If there was origionally a tube attached here then where does the other end connect? Any help here would be greatly appreciated. Thanx

There should be a diagram under the hood showing the vacuum hose routing. Nothing should be blowing out of a hose.
