My 1999 F350 7.3L auto transmission is out but I'm not convinced that it's worn out. I was driving down the road and stopped for a traffic light and when I went to take off again it would not move. I had no slipping or any indication that there was a problem before this incident. I had it towed home and it's been sitting for a while. I start it regularly and the other day, it moved but only for a few minutes. What is up? Do I need a new transmission or is there something else that can cause this to happen?

If the fluid is good, then there is nothing you can do but get it to the shop.

what about an electrical componet? The truck took heavy damage to the front end a few months before. I had heard there was some kind of electronic control that could be damaged.
