1999 ford f-250 diesel engine

hello,

My pulleys have started to squeal, or may just one pulley, hard to tell when the engine is running. However, i did spray some lubricant on the power steering pump pulley front and back, and the squealing will stop just for a short time. the bearing has been replaced or I was told. the belt is new as well.

Any help would be appreciated

Re: 1999 ford f-250 diesel engine

Do you notice any wobbling pulleys? For the most part, idler pulleys are common to fail before others. It could be that the new power steering pulley wasn't installed correctly. As the noise went away when you sprayed the PS pulley, that's your culprit. The pulley on my Durango started to squeal about a year ago. I ordered a new pulley (not just a bearing!) but haven't installed it as the squealing went away. The weather here has been fairly mild lately so I'm sure that's the cause of my problem. Not to say that my bearing has fixed itself, as it's still bad, but I'd rather do the replacement during the warmer months.
