2000 f150 5.4 triton engine question

my engine finally gave in my 2000 f150 after 280,000 miles. I'm searching on craigslist and there are a few that i found but am cautious cause I dont want to buy just any 5.4 engines and find out the bolt patterns are different. what years will fit my truck? will a 1999 fit or a 2001 fit? I found a 1999 with 83000 miles on it and he wants $600 for it and thats what i'm about to buy but I thought id ask this forum of people to make sure.

What do I need to look for to make sure they'll match? will the VIN numbers do fine, like if the beggining or end of the Vin matches then its an engine match? I need suggestions and your thoughts really bad right now cause I need that truck running and no extra money to spare if you know what i mean.

let me know thanks,
