the gas gauge is stuck on full. when i bought the truck the dealer told me that if its stuck on full its a fuse and if its stuck on empty its a sending unit. being that it stuck on full its not a fuse because i checked every single fuse in my truck. i was also told that i could be a problem with the dash. not sure whether to pull the dash apart and try to see if thats the problem or replace the sending unit and float. please help me im sick of running out of gas and having to put gas in my truck from a 5 gallon can on the side of the road.

It can be the sending unit. There's a yellow/white wire to the sending unit. If you ground it, the gauge goes to empty. If the wire is open, the gauge will go to full. The instrument module can also have a problem. Try grounding that wire from the sending unit and see if it coes to empty. If it does, the sending unit is the problem or the black/orange isn't grounded good. There's a black wire on it that grounds the fuel pump and if it was bad, the truck wouldn't run.

thank you for your help. also does a new gem module have to be reprogrammed at the dealer?

If it has to be replaced, the information has to be taken from the old one and reprogrammed to the new one.
