2002 f250 tranny overheating
I have a 02 7.3L turbo diesel. I went to a mudhole and my transmission overheated and puked some out. I refilled the trans and drove 40miles home no overheating. I drove to Jacksonville from Orlando and the trans temp stayed just under the yellow and in the yellow. Same on the way home. I payed $260 to have the radiator and the transmission cooler removed and completely cleaned, the only code on the computer was trans over temp. still overheats but has gotten worse I can now only drive 20-30 minutes before heating up into the red and making me shut it down to cool off. I have heard that there is a thermostat control in the valve body of the trans? I've also heard from a local transmission guy that he thinks its the toque converter, because its not locking in completely and the only way for it to cool is if its locked in completely... Any answers???
