i have real problem i can't control radio first played the radio but no control of fuctions, now tape works and no radio, i have checked fuses but with no help

I have a similar problem with the radio in my '99 Taurus. The backlight turns off at times and turns back on at other times. If I push the LCD screen in, the light comes back on so I can at least check the time/station. My functions still work. You may have to get a new radio. I'd remove it and get it tested, or find one used RockAuto Auto Parts is a good site to find OEM parts. I can bet that a circuit board inside has fused somehow, like the one in my Taurus, but again at least my buttons and such still work.
