I recently purchased a 2006 SuperCrew Lariat w/5.4L engine. Only had 35k miles on it. We absolutely love this truck, like driving a luxury car. I replaced a Dodge Durango to tow our Toy Hauler trailer. I am finding that the Ford tranny loves to run in the lower gears, which at times is a little annoying. i.e. shifts down as far as 2nd when it really shouldn't have to. Rarely is able to run at hwy speeds in O/D, even on level grade. My Durango with the 5.9 could do it much easier. I bought the F150 because it's supposed to be the ultimate tow vehicle. Well, not all the time.
It had a hesitation in it when downshifting at lower speeds. The dealer had a TSB that called for a computer upgrade. Helped that condition but not the one stated above. Has anyone else had this condition AND is there anything that can be done about it? I would like the engine and tranny to take better advantage of the HP and TQ it has.
