I seem to be having difficulty figuring out what this whining noise is that my truck is making. Its a 2006 250 6.0L Turbo Diesel, and every time i get on the throttle then let off after 2000revs a low tea pot whistle will come from the engine, I know it is not the turbo. I have no clye where it could be coming from...any opinions??

Have the same problem with our truck. Ford said they have a handful of trucks out there with the same problem and have no idea what it is. Told the dealer not to do anymore work. Have you found anything out about it?

the noise you guys hear is perfectly normal...its the turbo spooling down i owned on of these trucks until today went back to gas

After going through a ton of Forums I have heard this a lot. The problem if it is not in the turbo is the exhaust has a flaw with gaskets that are coming loose and allows air to blow by causing the whistling, Otherwise turbos do have a high pitched wine that some people do not like but I love.

Check your coolant level. I would bet that you need head gaskets. I had the same issue until mine were replaced.
