My 2006 F-150 Lariat went into Engine Failsafe Mode this morning when I was driving back home from dropping my daughter off. I didn't notice any chage in the way it drove, it still accelerated and handled just fine..just had the message pop off. I pulled into a parking lot close by and turned the engine off and restarted it and drove the rest of the way home with no warning message. Any idea why this would happen? Thanks!

Get the vehicle scanned for codes. Generally fail safe can either be transmission or cooling (the two major ones, anyway). As you mentioned the vehicle drove fine chances are the PCM detected something wrong and its stored in the memory. The code will disappear after you start the vehicle 50 or so times, so get it checked out in a couple days to make sure there really isn't a possible problem that may get you stranded.
