2007 f150 - intake valve question

I just bought a 2007 f150 XLT. It's been running great but soon after I bought it I noticed a noise coming from the area underneath the steering wheel. It sounded like air being let out of a tire. Only seemed to happen as I was giving the truck gas and it happened with the A/C on or off. Didn't appear to affect the driving -- but I was still nervous. I took it into the dealership and they told me it's normal in the '06 and '07 models because the intake valve is on the driver side. Apparently it's common for that noise to occur but it's not a problem. Can anyone confirm this -- or tell me if it sounds like BS?

Thanks!
