351m bellhousing on a 460???
I am putting a 460 in a 78 ford 3/4 ton manual 4 speed 4WD. The original motor is a 351m now the big question is whether this bellhousing will work fine or not. I beleve this will bolt right up to the 460 but doing some research people say that the 351m bellhousing is about an inch shorter between the tranny to motor than the original 460 bellhosuing. People say this leads to issues with the tranny input shaft being too long and this giving issues on the back of the crank. Some poeple say the thing to do is use a 390 flywheel and clutch. I have to buy a flywheel and clutch this motor came from an automatic. Does anybody know for 100% sure what will and will not work to get this bellhousing to work properly?
