I have a 1979 F150 with a 302 in it. I am planning on swapping it out and replacing it with a 351W. The truck has a C-6 with the tall bell housing. I was given a 351W but it has the short circular bell housing.

My question? Is there a 351W with the tall bell housing bolt pattern?

Hmm, lots of info there but it didn't answer the question tho. Thank you tho, it had some useful info and casting numbers to help me figure out what year it is.

Hi there, to my knowledge you should be able to put the 351 right in, in place of the 302. I have swapped 302's out with a c6 with no problems. It should have a 28oz flywheel or flexplate up to 85 I think. The flex plate can be reused. What you may be looking for is some flexplates had a higher tooth count. Just check and make sure you motor mounts will work. Hope this helps
