4.6L F150 Exhaust Modification Question

I have a '99 F150 Supercab 4x4 with the 4.6L Triton. I would like to replace the muffler for a straight pipe (dual actually), but I don't want to ruin the performance or MPG due to insufficient back-pressure. Does any one have an experience or suggestion that may help me decide how to go about this? I love the sound of an engine roaring, but I don't want to do anything stupid.

By the way, I don't care what the law says... :beerbottl

Any one in particular...kit or pieces? I've heard that their 40 series is good. but what about a straight pipe? I changed out the mufflers on my HD for straights (fishtails actually) with no baffles...It sounds great, but I've lost low-end power. I'm going to put in some bolts to increase back-pressure. I'm wondering if I can do something similar for the truck...
