I have a 1992 F super duty 460. Need help with gas milege. 5 miles per galon.I know 460 do not get super milage. Does any one have sugestions.:

Do you have any more info. for us? Did you just get this truck? Have you had it for a long time, and mileage just started getting bad? Does the truck have any running/driving issues? Is there a 'check engine' light on?

Thanks for the reply.Just got the truck it is a super duty rollback.The check engine light is missing.Do not see one.It has 180,ooo on it.The temp stayes at the quarter mark.THE truckis a 1992.think it has a 1994 engine in it.Put a new gas regulater on it.Going to change the plugs.Talked to ford place.I asked them if the tempature sensers could cause this proublem.Thay said if the computer did not get the right info may be.Truck runs fine just burnes gas.Did notice tail pipe black.Seems to be rich.Any help thanks

A good tune up would be in order, then see if it improves. Let us know your results.

Even after a tune-up and new air filter, and timing adjustments, you may gain 2mpg at best.

Do you mean the temp always stays at the 1/4 mark? Even at start-up and when engine is warm?

I think the temp hand is working.It moves up to aquater after it gets hot.That is why i am wondering if the coputer is geting the right reading.o2senser looks like it has never been replaced.

yeah the o2 sensor might do it cause mine gets abour 12-14 on a good day with a good tune.
