I own a 2000 f150 auto trans 4.6L engine. The truck runs great and I love it, but the 4wd drive lever on the floor is a huge pain in the ass. It is stiff to engage the vehicle into 4h and nearly impossible to put the truck into 4lo. both work fine, but is there any way to make the lever function more smoothly so that it does not feel like I am pulling on a 50 lb weight to get it into 4wd?

Take the 4x4 leaver assembly apart on the trans and clean it then lub it.

i have the same problem, 4hi is easy, but i CANNOT get it into 4LO. impossible. i guess I"ll have to clean'er up.

if you don't use it on a regular bases thy all freeze up there is a plastic sleeve over the sifter stud pin i found out that antiseeze works the best
