I have a 2000 excursion with a v10. its the 6.8 liter. the trans is gettin a little weak. i work at the local salvage yard and we got 04 f250 with a 5.4 with 23k on it. so im wondering if i could take the trans out of it and put it in my excursion. the hollander interchange says they both have the tr100 trans but the ID numbers were different. please let me know if this can be done. cause a trans at my work is 100 bucks compared to god knows what i would spend getting it rebuilt.

I don't know if anyone on here knows the answer to that, but I'd phone a local dealer and ask them if it can be done. They'll have the part #'s and such on their system to know if the 5.4L trans is capable of handling the torque of the 6.8L. With any luck you'll get a good answer, as a new trans can be quite expensive!
