I just bought a new 2005 F250 XL, reg cab, long bed, w/ the 5.4l engine in it. Ford claims 300hp/365ft.lbs. torque. From 324 cu. inches! On regular gas! Now, folks, you should be able to feel that kind of power in "the seat of your pants" when you press the accelerator! Freeway on-ramps should be a breeze! That truck should run 14 second 1/4's! (My '64 GTO, w/325hp runs 13's.. It'll set your eyeballs back! Scare your mother! But it is a 389 cu. in. that prefers premium.)

So, is Ford maybe "fudging" things a bit? Any dyno test info out there? Is there a difference between year 1964 hp. and year 2005 hp.?

I offed my '86 F250 XL, reg cab, with the EFI 5.0 in it. Rated at 200hp. 20mpg @63mph, day in, day out. 190,000 miles on it. Never a whimper....Just rusted through...

This new Ford gets about 15mpg...

I cannot verify Fords Horsepower Rating's with this Model or engine...but I think your estimate that it should do 14 Second Quarter Mile Times is very miscalculated.Remember...its a considerably heavy vehicle,and not the same as 300 Horsepower in a car.There is also many other things to consider that can substancially effect a vehicles quarter mile time,that have nothing to do with engine horsepower...such as rear end ratios,Automatic or manual Transmission?and how Transmission is set up or geared to name a few.I've heard the SVT Lightning does 14 Second Quarter Mile Passes...and that is a Supercharged version of your vehicle,and probably weighs less as are'nt they an F-150? If your vehicle is running Power Steering,Air Conditioning,these rob your engine of power...and I would guess you possiblie have both? Regardless...I think it would be more realistic in my opinion that your vehicle run 17+ Second's over the Quarter,at least!! All the best...Lukeh!!

Weight is the killer... Also, your gear/diff ratios are gunna be lower...
