Re: 5.4L Triton...Powerful enough for a Superduty???

the 5.4 in my 02 f250 has plenty of power but dont expect the acceleration or mileage of your chevy. i have towed a lot with this truck 6000lbs + and it had no trouble at all. i would definatly recomend it i just traded my 05 6.0 diesel on another 5.4

Re: 5.4L Triton...Powerful enough for a Superduty???

Me and my dad both have 8's for hauling our boats and jet skis around; its perfect for what we need...then again your looking at a 350, that should be a "light" load compared to what you can haul easily

Re: 5.4L Triton...Powerful enough for a Superduty???

If you plan to tow around 8K or less, the 5.4L will get the job done without sacrificing speed. If you don't plan to tow more than 6K, you'll be fine with the 3.73 gears, if more, be sure to opt for the 4.10's, you won't regret it!

Re: 5.4L Triton...Powerful enough for a Superduty???

As said above the 5.4 is powerful enough for most owners, depending on just how much you plan to tow with it. If you have the extra cash for a diesel I would buy one for the better mileage and durability (7.3L is the best of the bunch for Ford). If you need less than 8000lbs towing capacity the 5.4L will do the job. I just bought a 1999 F250 SD with the Triton V8 and haven't noticed any problems driving in high speed traffic yet.

Re: 5.4L Triton...Powerful enough for a Superduty???

the 5.4 is a dog in a superduty if you get anything but a diesel iin a superduty you will be selling it for one. 7.3 is the way to go. if you get a good 6.0 there good, but get a bad one and plan on going through turbo and head gaskets. im not firmilure with the 6.4 but i know a 99-03 will be a lot cheaper. with regular oil changes the 7.3 is very dependalbe.( if you what some real power you can feel, you can't beat a diesel with a tuner)
