I have a 93 7.3L diesel that runs just fine to an extent. While in park, at about 2500 RPMs, it blows LOTS of white smoke. When I am driving it, as long as I keep the RPMs low, I have gotten the truck up to 60 MPH. If I try to floor it or accelerate too quickly, it will not engage to pick up speed. I thought it might be the transmission, but that wouldn't cause all the white smoke . . . right? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks!

White smoke is generally a head gasket. Somewhere or someplace water is getting by and into the cylinder. A good way to check this (while not 100% accurate) is to look for bubbles in the water reservoir with the engine running. If you see ANY bubble(s) that means cylinder pressure is getting by the head gasket.
