'89 F-150 Replacement Tranny

First timer here.

I have an '89 F-150 that needs a new tranny. Badly. I have a few that I've managed to find on Craigslist, but don't know if they'll fit. They'll all require some driving to see, so I want to try finding out before I make the trip.

Mine is a Lariat edition, automatic, 4x4, V8. The engine is a 302 (I think). The best deal I've found is a guy selling a '95 F-150 tranny, automatic, 4x4, V8. Can someone tell me if this will be compatible with my truck? If not, which model years would work? Thanks very much in advance.

- Jeff

Re: '89 F-150 Replacement Tranny

Thanks, Bert. I actually found that website in another of your posts in a different thread. Not quite sure what I'm looking for, but I know the '95 will not work. Too bad, the guy only wanted $100 for it.

Am I correct that only something from '87-'93 will fit and that a Bronco tranny will work too?

I believe that's correct. If you search on that site, the vehicles that have an interchange will show up in the list on the left.

I didn't see anything about an interchange.

I didn't mean interchange, I actually meant that, the vehicles that use the same part will show up in the list on the left.
