91 460 e4od to c6

i know people are going to say google and use the search, but i cant find any real info on how to do it. i just tore my e4od apart and it looks like someone dropped a bomb in my tranny. chunks of metal chipped hubs clutches plates bent and shattered ect. what is required to put a c6 in place of the e4od. its a 460speed density efi. do i need a different computer can i just leave the wires hang? do i need to jump connectors? what am i getting into?

Re: 91 460 e4od to c6

i would prefer to do a manual swap but i dont know what i need as far as the bell housing goes. my family and i are skilled with metal working and fabrication so cutting holes and hanging the clutch pedal and what not would probably be the easiest part of the swap for me. this truck will never see highway. the fastest consistent speed it will see is 55mph. this truck is my drive to work and play truck

Re: 91 460 e4od to c6

You need to know more about what your getting into.
The original is an electric controlled transmission.
The C6 is as old as the hills a design from back in the 50s may or may not have overdrive and require a vacuum source to shift.
The neutral safety switch has to be rewired.
There may be mounting issues on the back end and shift linkage changes to be made.
The ECM will cause a check engine light not seeing the transmission connected.
The speed sensing may cause issues of stalling if not in place.
What's the big deal getting another E4OD over doing a swap that brings with it issues to solve.
Good luck.
