I've never used these things before but I'm running out of options. I'm a college student in Ohio and I depend on my 1994 F-150 to get me home and back every couple weeks. Last spring the truck started acting up on me. As I was driving I went to get on the gas and nothing happened. The check engine light would come on immediately afterwards. I had it put on the computer at a Ford dealership and they said it was the O2 sensor, so I had that replaced. It continued. As of now, I've also had the rear converter taken out because it had gone bad, and replaced the EGR valve because a code had shown up that it was bad. It still runs rough on the road with no throttle response, and has started a bad habbit of staling out at idle, whether I'm parked or at a stop light. I don't have the time or the resources to work on it all day because of my situation. If anybody has any clue what's going on I would greatly like to hear from you.

Maybe try cleaning the IAC valve. It sits on the side of the throttle body. That might be dirty and be part of the idle problem.

Alright, I finally got a break from school work and went out to the parking garage to take a look at that valve. I'm a redneck so I carry my tools with me to school. The valve looked a little gummed up inside but really not that bad. I cleaned it out as best I could. This weekend I'll be going home so I can maybe test it with a ohm meter. Hopefully I can get an answer from that. Thanks

When you cleaned it did it help with the idle or was it still not idling right??

When I cleaned it, it did not change anything. I finally got a chance to test it and according to Chilton's instructions, it is still working fine. The truck still isn't idling right, or performing right out on the road. It will run fine for a few minutes at idle, then starts cutting out still. Out on the highway, same problem with lack of throttle response. I appreciate your replies and hope you might have some more ideas. Thanks!
